Conrad J Heilman Jr., Ph.D.
President and CEO
Conrad has over 20 years' experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, and has extensive knowledge in research, development, manufacturing, and quality/compliance. He has managed numerous large projects for respected international firms, has achieved superior outcomes in challenging, time-sensitive compliance situations, and has helped clients meet operational, regulatory, legislative, and competitive demands. Conrad was President of Viromed Biosafety Laboratories in NJ, Vice President of Research for Pro-Virus in MD, and a Director of Applied Biotechnology at DuPont Merck Pharmaceuticals.
Brian E Kornet
CFO and Treasurer
Brian leads the fiscal function and financial operations of Tunnell Consulting, Inc. and serves as a member of the firm's Executive Committee, helping the organization craft sound business solutions that serve both our future and the well-being of our client companies. He is also a trustee of the Tunnell Consulting, Inc. ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan), with responsibility for plan administration and investment decisions. Other key responsibilities include evaluating the impact of long-range planning, evaluation of potential alliances, acquisitions or mergers, pension plans, investments and various benefit plans of the corporation. Brian joined Tunnell in 2002 as Controller, a role in which he managed the accounting team and helped to expand and strengthen the Finance department, which works closely with our core businesses in the Federal Government and Life Sciences Commercial areas. Before joining Tunnell he was a senior accountant at Smart & Associates and has held accounting and financial positions at Barbacane, Thornton, & Company and Keystone Financial Leasing Corporation. Brian is a CPA and has CGMA certification.
Jerry D Robinson
Senior Vice President, Government Services
Tunnell’s Senior Vice President for Government Services Jerry Robinson has more than 30 years of experience in government contracting, including experience with scientific services, technologies, software and solutions ranging from innovative C4ISR and advanced sustainment systems to counterterrorism, intelligence and integrated security solutions for clients in the defense, intelligence and homeland security communities. To his work with Tunnell’s government clients he also brings a strong background in finance and accounting that is invaluable for agencies that must do more with less in an age of tightening budgets. Formerly Chairman and CEO of SFA, Inc., a subsidiary of then Global Technology Strategies, Inc., a national security company, he has a deep understanding of the needs of government agencies and an extensive track record of working with them successfully. His prior experience also includes serving as Chief Financial Officer of SFA, Inc. In addition, he has held key finance positions at Vega Precision Laboratories, a defense electronics manufacturing company; Halifax Engineering, a government contracting IT and security service company; and Fairchild Industries.
Maria V Butz
Vice President, Human Resources
With extensive experience in both human resources and healthcare consulting, Maria Butz combines her skills and knowledge to direct Tunnell's human resources capabilities, emphasizing consultant competencies that deliver the utmost sensitivity to client needs. As a member of our Operating Committee, she is also engaged in strategic business development as Tunnell continues to execute its program of deliberate growth. Maria has served as Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for Life Bridge Health, where she developed and implemented a corporate human resources organization that supported the healthcare system strategically and operationally. She has also served as Corporate Vice President for Human Resources at Catholic Health East, developing and executing strategies, policies, and programs that successfully merged three healthcare systems. She has held a variety of human resources positions at PSE&G Enterprise Group, Penn Mutual Insurance, Educational Testing Service, and Fidelcor. She is also an experienced executive coach.
Philippe Cini Ph.D.
Group Vice President, Practice Leader, Operational and Process Improvement
With extensive expertise in developing business consulting teams and capabilities that provide world-class support to large-scale organizations, Philippe leads Tunnell’s Operational and Process Improvement Practice. He brings more than 20 years of experience across a wide range of areas that are critical for pharmaceutical and life sciences companies, including: R&D, operations management, Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and change management. He is also an expert in Quality by Design (QbD). Prior to joining Tunnell Philippe was a Principal in the Life Sciences Practice at Capgemini Consulting with a particular focus on supply chain management. He was also a Partner in the Life Sciences Practice of IBM where he was responsible for supply chain solutions.
Group Vice President, Business Development Leader, Commercial
Over the past 30 years, Bob Johnson has led and advised multinational companies and helped them achieve record sales and profits through the implementation of business development and operational excellence programs. He has worked with global organizations, turn-arounds, startup companies and private equity firms, and for the past 10 years has focused on pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device organizations. His areas of expertise include sales process improvement, operational strategy, lean manufacturing, performance and compliance improvement, organizational effectiveness, change management, and strategic outsourcing. In the course of his career, he has held key roles at a number of leading consulting companies, including Celerant, Sapient, and EDS. He has also held a variety of roles with high tech, systems integration, and computer consulting companies, including Ampro, Data General, and Wang Laboratories.
Group Vice President, Business Development
David Kromer has nearly thirty years of experience in line management and business development in the life sciences, government services, and defense sectors. He is adept at introducing clients to consulting and technical services that lead to dramatic, sustainable results and mutually beneficial client relationships. He is Vice President, Business Development for Tunnell Government Services, dedicated to serving government agencies with highly qualified scientific talent and human capital management expertise. Prior to joining Tunnell, he was Vice President, Capture Management of SAIC, a provider of scientific, engineering, systems integration and technical services and solutions. Previously, he served as Director, Defense Community Business Development, for BAE Systems, where he focused on opportunity identification, qualification, and capture in the Defense Intelligence, Defense C4ISRT, and international market spaces. He has also served in several roles, including Senior Director, Military Communications, for ARINC, Inc., an international transportation communications and IT consulting firm. He began his career as a Project Leader with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Margit G Olson Ph.D.
Group Vice President, Quality and Compliance Practice Leader
Widely recognized in the biopharmaceutical industry as a leader in quality and compliance, Margit Olson has more than 30 years’ experience in the industry, including 20 years’ experience in all aspects of vaccine development, manufacture, quality and compliance, CMC regulatory and more. Her expertise includes quality systems, quality assurance, cGMP, and bio-safety, as well as development and launch of biological products, from technology transfer and methods/specifications development to regulatory approval. She is adept at root cause analysis, process improvement, leveraging technology, and she has expertise in improvement methodologies and experience in leading and managing major organizational change. Prior to joining Tunnell, she served as President of Monarch Bioscience, where she consulted to biopharm firms on regulatory strategy, quality systems, process optimization, and technology transfer. She was Global Director, Quality, RMS, for Harlan Laboratories, overseeing the quality function for more than 15 facilities globally. Prior to that, she spent more than two decades with Merck & Co. in a number of critical roles, including: Senior Director, Vaccine Operations; Senior Director, Bacterial Vaccines Manufacturing and Automation & IT Services; Director, Bacterial Vaccines Manufacturing; and Director, Biologics Licensing. In addition, she held roles at Merck in biological quality control testing, biological quality control technical services, and biological production technical services.
