  • William Bolding

    William Bolding
    Vice President, Life Sciences Account Executive
    With more than 30 years of experience in life sciences and related industries, Bill has led successful turnarounds in pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical environments. He has implemented and led global Lean Six Sigma projects at the executive, functional, and operation levels, and he is adept at aligning organizational cultures with strategic objectives. Prior to joining Tunnell, he was Senior Vice President of Global Operational Excellence at Catalent Pharma Solutions, a former division of Cardinal Health spun off to the Blackstone Group. As Senior Vice President, Global Operational Exellence at Cardinal, he collaborated with the senior leadeship team to position the division for divestiture. As Vice President of Operations at Oral Technologies, he led the operations of three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. In addition, he has extensive experience in pharmaceutical packaging operations, including a variety of positions with Smurfit Stone Container Corporation. Skilled in developing and leading talented, accountable, and results-driven teams, he brings to all of his work a customer and value-oriented perspective.

  • Robert Johnson

    Robert Johnson
    Vice President, Life Sciences
    Over the past 30 years, Bob Johnson has led and advised multinational companies and helped them achieve record sales and profits through the implementation of business development and operational excellence programs. He has worked with global organizations, turn-arounds, startup companies and private equity firms, and for the past 10 years has focused on pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device organizations. His areas of expertise include sales process improvement, operational strategy, lean manufacturing, performance and compliance improvement, organizational effectiveness, change management, and strategic outsourcing. In the course of his career, he has held key roles at a number of leading consulting companies, including Celerant, Sapient, and EDS. He has also held a variety of roles with high tech, systems integration, and computer consulting companies, including Ampro, Data General, and Wang Laboratories.

    William Schmidt
    Vice President, Life Sciences
    Bill Schmidt has more than 25 years’ experience driving growth and revenues in business start-ups, business development, acquisitions, strategic alliances, and sales and marketing. Prior to joining Tunnell, he served as President and CEO of Advanced Gelatin Technologies, where he successfully secured start-up capital and developed an international IP portfolio, and Executive Vice President at Midwest Stainless Process Systems implementing successful marketing strategies, expanding market channels, and overseeing strategic acquisitions. He has held scientific research positions at Dermik Laboratories, Sterling Winthrop and SmithKlineBeecham, where he developed and transferred process and product technology worldwide. Bill’s primary focus centered on process optimization for efficient technology transfer or commercial production optimization as well as manufacturing operations review for cost savings and efficiencies.

  • Gregory J Sam

    Gregory J Sam
    Vice President, Quality / Regulatory Compliance
    To his role as Tunnell's Vice President, Quality/Regulatory Compliance, Greg Sam brings more than 20 years of experience in FDA-regulated industries, including work with APIs, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and medical devices. With expertise in all aspects of quality and compliance, he has assisted leading companies in improving and maintaining GXP, establishing quality as a competitive advantage, and managing change while improving quality. Prior to joining Tunnell, he was President of Sam Consulting, serving companies across the spectrum of life sciences. Previously, he served as Vice President, Corporate Quality, at Millipore Corporation, where he established a "build-in quality" approach and integrated corporate quality strategy with divisional strategies. Prior to that, he held key quality roles at a number of life sciences companies, including Elan Corporation, Dura Pharmaceuticals, Watson Laboratories, Rhone-Poulenc Rorer, Wyeth-Ayerst International, and Ortho Diagnostics. In addition, he has worked in immunology at E.I. DuPont and with a variety of research institutions.

  • Stephen J Brown

    Stephen J Brown
    Principal
    Steve Brown brings 15 years of experience providing strategic, technical and tactical consulting services and solutions to major, mid-tier and emerging pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, medical device and life science services companies and contract organizations. His expertise includes developing and overseeing the delivery of consulting solutions focused on manufacturing, laboratory and operational process improvement and quality and regulatory compliance. Prior to joining Tunnell, he worked at Dell in the computer company’s then newly created life sciences vertical team, tasked with delivering IT solutions specific to the industry. Previously, at Taratec Development Corporation (now Patni Life Sciences), he managed custom consulting solutions aimed at facilitating business process improvement, providing demonstrable ROI and reducing regulatory risk in functional areas like drug safety and pharmacovigilance, R&D and QC laboratories, manufacturing, regulatory, quality and compliance. At Refinery, Inc. (now G2 Interactive), he helped develop the company’s growing consulting presence in life sciences relative to web strategy, branding and digital marketing services. In addition, his experience includes life science industry focused roles at IT-centric consultancies Ciber, Inc. and Coretech Consulting.

    With over 25 years' experience, Jim Fitzgerald has successfully directed and led hundreds of cross-functional improvement projects designed to deliver top-line growth and bottom-line benefits. He has created strategic and operational plans, identified growth strategies, revitalized product development, and streamlined the supply chain. Prior to joining to Tunnell, he was Vice President of Strategy Deployment and Operations at Dun & Bradstreet, where he drove high-impact strategic initiatives for capital-efficient, profitable growth. Previously, he was Strategy Management and Continuous Improvement Consultant for Strategic Leadership Resources. Prior to that, he was Corporate Director of Continuous Improvement at medical technology company Becton, Dickinson. In addition, he has held several critical positions at Johnson & Johnson, including Worldwide Director of Strategy Management and Process Excellence and Worldwide Director of Compliance and Process Excellence. Jim was also on the management board for the Johnson & Johnson/Merck joint venture. He also has 14 years of experience in the U.S. Air Force as a Strategic Management and Manpower Consultant and Supply Specialist. He is a certified Master Black Belt in Six Sigma and certified Air Force Total Quality Management Advisor and Master Instructor.

    With more than 22 years of life sciences industry experience, Joe Mulvey brings deep expertise in developing and delivering advanced pharmaceutical consulting services to a wide spectrum of clients. Prior to joining Tunnell, he helped lead the west regional biopharmaceutical practice at Stantec Consulting, an architecture and engineering design services firm, where he worked with leading life sciences companies throughout the project life cycle. Previously, he served as Vice President, Life Sciences, at AECOM Technology Corporation, an architecture, engineering and construction management consulting firm. He also managed the life sciences practice at Ernst & Young, working with clients on business strategy and SAP implementation. Prior to that, he was Director, Critical Systems, at Centeon (now CSL Behring), a biopharmaceutical blood products manufacturer.

    Principal Greg Plante has more than 25 years of experience in the planning, development, and launch of major business and technology systems, with a special focus on life sciences R&D technology systems and strategy. Prior to joining Tunnell, he was the lead resource in Deloitte Consulting’s Life Sciences R&D technology practice, advising senior IT management at Fortune 1000 life sciences clients. Previously, he led strategy development and implementation of technologies and support for Johnson & Johnson’s Pharmaceutical Research and Development community. Prior to that, he was chief architect for a service and framework offering for Fortune 1000 collaborative commerce applications at CSC Consulting, where he held a variety of positions as an IT architect and technologist.

  • Carla F Reed

    Carla F Reed
    Principal
    Carla Reed has more than 20 years’ experience working in global supply chain and logistics environments. An authority on ‘discovery to distribution’ supply chain best practices in the life sciences industry, she has led supply chain integration during the merger of global pharmaceutical companies and has expertise in discovery, clinical trials, product introduction, and related processes and technology enablers. Prior to joining Tunnell, she was a senior vice president at Marsh Risk Consulting, where she focused on supply chain safety and security, with emphasis on high-risk supply chain environments, including pharmaceuticals, biological products, food, and electronics. Previously, she led the global logistics practice for distribution and related technologies at Chainlink Research. Prior to that, she founded and led New Creed Consulting and she has held a number of key positions in strategic sourcing and supply chain management at Sterling Commerce, Tomkins Associates, and Encompass. Before relocating to the United States, she also led major supply chain engagements at several of the largest industrial conglomerates in Southern Africa, including SA Breweries, Murray & Roberts and SAPPI.

    Alfred J Riles
    Principal
    Al Riles brings to Tunnell more than 35 years of experience in creating and implementing global HR processes. His expertise includes leadership training, organizational development, change management, employee relations, and global recruiting and staffing – all firmly anchored in business-case analysis. Prior to joining Tunnell, he held a variety of positions at the Johnson & Johnson family of companies where he led and managed detailed process mapping at the global level for the training process that impacted 120,000 employees. As Worldwide Vice President, Human Resources, Johnson & Johnson-Merck, he directed all aspects of HR policies for employees in the U.S. and Europe and trained J&J executives on four continents. Previously, he served in a number of key positions in Human Resources for McNeil Consumer Healthcare, addressing succession planning, performance management, organizational development strategies, and other critical HR issues.

  • Dave Schulenberg

    Dave Schulenberg
    Principal
    Dave Schulenberg is a recognized expert in the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-wide Business Improvement and Operational Excellence strategies including Business Transformation, Lean Six Sigma, Business Process Management, Design Excellence, and Change Management. Prior to joining Tunnell, he was a principal at One Source Medical Group, where he acted as Operations leader for a multi-million dollar medical equipment sales, distribution, and service organization. Previously, as President of The Process Results Organization, he focused on the planning, development, and deployment of large scale continuous improvement strategies and consulted clients worldwide across multiple industries including pharmaceuticals, health care, medical devices, manufacturing, and the government sector. In the mid 1990’s, he directed the Six Sigma Leadership Program at GE Capital, supporting 27 global business units during the initial development and implementation phases of Six Sigma across the corporation. He has also been a Senior Associate at Coopers & Lybrand Consulting, where he worked in the firm’s Center of Excellence for Quality and Change Management. He began his career as a process engineer in the Space and Avionics Division of Honeywell.

    Robert Spector has more than 17 years of management consulting experience with a proven track record of generating sustainable value for clients utilizing his expertise in Lean / Six Sigma, operations excellence, supply chain strategy, business process design, and information systems. Prior to joining Tunnell, he served in multiple leadership roles for several leading management consulting firms, including two of the "Big Four." Robert's focus has been on strategically growing revenue and profits for clients via process and operational improvements and leading organizational change. He has published and presented widely on Lean/Six Sigma and continuous improvement and is a certified Lean/Six Sigma black belt.

  • Steven Walton

    Steven Walton
    Principal
    Steven Walton has more than 25 years of international pharmaceutical manufacturing and quality experience. Steve's forte is launching then driving Operational Excellence programs at a site, region and global levels; leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other quality techniques to reduce defects, improve cycle times, cut costs, and increase performance. His areas of expertise include strategic planning, change management, quality program management, and training. Prior to joining Tunnell, following Merck’s merger with Schering Plough, he was responsible for developing strategies to optimize integration, acceptance, and cultural change activities at former Schering Plough facilities. Prior to that, he served as Global Supply Chain Process Excellence Director for Schering Plough. Previously, he held numerous roles at GlaxoSmithKline, where he fostered continuous process improvement, trained management teams in quality principles, and spearheaded supply chain and manufacturing improvement initiatives.

  • Reuben Q Zielinski

    Reuben Q Zielinski
    Principal
    Reuben Zielinski has over 25 years of experience in the development and production of highly regulated cGMP and ISO electronics, medical devices, and pharmaceutical products. In addition, he has extensive domestic and international experience in operations and general management. Prior to joining Tunnell, he served as Vice President and General Manager of North American Operations for King Systems, where he was responsible for multi-plant operations, led manufacturing transformation, and rolled out Lean Six Sigma programs. Previously, he was Senior Director of Operations for Cardinal Health/Catalent, where he led operations at state-of-the-art FDA regulated CRO/CMO pharmaceutical facility, including manufacturing, validation, engineering, facilities, supply chain, tech transfer, stability lab, EHS, and metrology. He has also directed engineering for Vyteris, Inc., RD&E for Songbird Hearing, and Manufacturing Engineering and Strategy at Bristol-Myers Squibb, and previously held several positions at IBM Corporation.
