hired a new Managing Director of Transportation to work within the

Ron Snee Joins Tunnell Consulting's Performance Excellence Practice
|
|
Tunnell Consulting of King of Prussia, PA, is pleased
to announce that nationally-recognized Six Sigma expert Dr. Ronald
D. Snee has joined the company's Performance Excellence Practice.
With some 25 years' experience, a host of awards and honors, and
more than 140 publications in the fields of process improvement,
quality, management and statistics -- Dr. Snee will add significant
depth and experience to the company's rapidly growing practice.
He joins Tunnell as Principal and will immediately be available
to help clients impact both productivity and growth.
Dr. Snee earned doctorates in both applied and mathematical statistics.
He blends his technical expertise with years of organizational involvement
to effect performance improvement in a broad range of fields. His
experience includes work in telecommunications, financial services,
health care, the news media, and chemical and plastics manufacturing.
He has held top process improvement and management positions at
Bell Atlantic, Dupont, Joiner Associates, and Sigma Breakthrough
Technologies.
Working with Dupont for more than twenty years, Dr. Snee was selected
to design the firm's first corporate-wide continuous improvement
curriculum. His work with Dupont resulted in five major awards.
At Bell Atlantic, where he served as Vice President of Process Assurance,
he introduced new process improvement and measurement approaches
designed to boost customer service.
Dr. Snee joins the firm at a time when both progressive and troubled
firms are exploring Six Sigma and other top methodologies in a quest
to cut waste and enhance results. "What we learn in assessing companies,"
says Dr. Snee. "is that a lot of money is unnecessarily left on
the table. There's a lot of waste that significantly impacts the
bottom line."
To ferret out that waste, Dr. Snee says you must be persistent:
"What companies need is a systematic approach to process improvement
that continually, and positively, affects customer service and the
bottom line. Six Sigma can do that. It can yield tremendous gains.
It really brings together the best parts of all the improvement
approaches that have gone before."
Six Sigma can also impressively impact the top line as well, enhancing
company growth in a variety of ways. "You improve the top line,
" says Dr. Snee, " by tightening the processes that can speed products
to market, thus helping you make more sales. You also grow faster
when you increase capacity and increase your attractiveness to buyers.
All of this can be done by improving processes throughout the organization."
Dr. Snee is a former winner of the American Society for Quality's
Shewhart Medal, its highest honor, and has served as a member of
the Malcom Baldrige National Quality Award Criteria Team, and a
Judge of the Delaware Quality Award. His writings have appeared
in numerous industry publications such as Quality Progress, The
American Statistician, and International Statistical Review.
Tunnell Consulting has been a leader in the process improvement
field since the mid-1980s, when key members involved in the famed
Harley-Davidson turnaround developed the Tunnell practice. In addition
to Six Sigma/ Process Excellence, the company also specializes in
Pharmaceutical Technical Services and Supply Chain/Distribution.
Founded in 1962, Tunnell Consulting is an employee-owned and operated
firm that has grown steadily since its inception. It is always the
company's mission to improve the operating performance of its clients
and to transfer to them the skills they need to continue improvements
on their own.

as principals of the firm -- Ray Schneider, Susan Devane and Joseph
Tempio. Their appointments are effective immediately.
According to Company CEO Pat Heaney, the promotions are in response
to the company's recent rapid growth and pave the way for successful
future expansion. Heaney, who is retiring in December 2001, says
the appointments also ensure the company's orderly leadership transition;
Company President Bob Hill is assuming Heaney's duties. According
to Heaney, "These three vice presidents are the key people who will
support the company's smooth transition and ensure the quality of
our work remains strong even as our client responsibilities broaden."
Ray Schneider, a consultant with Tunnell since 1988, has wide process
improvement, project management, organizational development and
change management experience in a variety of service and manufacturing
industries; he will assume responsibilities for the company's Six

pharmaceutical industry and has managed numerous projects in analytical
support, product validation and diagnostic test method validation;
he will continue to manage the company's Pharmaceutical Technical

Board of Directors.
According to President Bob Hill, the appointments represent the
company's historical commitment to the diversification of its products
and services, and its deepening intention to integrate the firm's
technical and organizational skill sets. "Our practice areas are
not separate, isolated silos," says Hill. "Instead, our practice
managers work together to bring the most appropriate tools to a
client project so it has the richest chance of success." In addition
to Six Sigma/Process Improvement and Pharmaceutical Technical Services,
the company also specializes in Supply Chain/Distribution and Organizational
Development/Change Management, and integrates those skill areas,
when appropriate, as well.
"Tunnell Consulting is a learning organization," adds Hill. "Our
goal is to continually learn from each other, and complement each
other, so that we can give our clients the most complete information
on what will make a project work. Ray, Susan and Joe will help build
that philosophy by making certain our best knowledge is employed
to address the unique operating issues affecting our clients."

firm that has grown steadily since its inception. It is always the

Idea Integration and K. W. Tunnell Company Federal Services Group
partners with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) to
develop the Online Lead application - an innovative, Web-based crime
fighting tool.
|
|
JACKSONVILLE, Florida (August 3, 2000) -
Idea Integration, the e-business solutions unit of Modis Incorporated,
the $1 billion information technology services subsidiary of Modis
Professional Services, Inc. (NYSE:MPS), announced today it has successfully
completed a new Web-based system for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco
and Firearms (ATF) called Online LEAD. Online LEAD was developed
as a partnership between Idea, The K.W. Tunnell Company Federal
Services Group, and ATF, and was initially launched on a limited
release in November of 1999. Online LEAD is designed to aid law
enforcement in its fight against illegal firearms traffickers and
is the newest crime-fighting tool in ATF's "electronic crime fighting
arsenal." It is an innovative e-government solution, using Internet
technology to change the way in which our government does business.
"Idea Integration is excited about the opportunity to apply the
new Internet business technologies to the problem of illegal firearms.
Online LEAD is further proof that government agencies like the ATF
can use Internet technologies to make incredible leaps in their
effectiveness, just as so many businesses have increased their competitive
advantage by using the Internet," said Pam Krulitz, Idea Senior
Vice President.
"We have worked with the ATF and the Idea team for more than 8 years,"
said Dr. Lawrence J. Fedewa, K. W. Tunnell's Federal Contracts Administrator.
"Idea's expertise in Internet-based systems is exactly the kind
of technical and business expertise that we want to bring into the
Federal Government."
According to Quentin Jones, Firearms Systems Program Manager, "The
Idea Integration team has played a key role at ATF by applying their
expertise in Internet-based technologies to ATF's firearms tracing
mission. The systems Idea has built for ATF are crucial to our firearms
tracing analysis."
"Online LEAD takes our fight against gun traffickers into cyberspace,"
said Treasury Secretary Lawrence H. Summers. "It gives federal,
state, and local law enforcement officials throughout the country
a new tool to help identify and arrest gun traffickers."
Online LEAD was created to enhance the ATF's information systems
that provide investigative leads to identify illegal firearms trafficking.
The system will send up "red flags" on potential illegal firearms
traffickers throughout the country. For example, Metropolitan Nashville
Police Chief Emmett H. Turner cited a recent case where information
obtained through Online LEAD identified the persons responsible
for illegally trafficking a firearm used in the May 1996 murder
of Officer Francis Scurry of his department. That firearm was one
of approximately 400 firearms illegally trafficked by two people
who were subsequently arrested and convicted for violations of the
Federal firearms laws.
ATF Director Bradley A. Buckles said, "Advances in investigative
information and in tools to access it enable ATF and our State and
local partners to identify many more criminals individually, and
to analyze and respond to specific local crime patterns."
The federal tracing system currently contains over 1 million crime
gun traces and is updated continuously. This greatly enhances the
field investigator's ability to quickly identify illegal firearms
trafficking and interdict the supply of guns to the illegal market.
ATF and local law enforcement personnel have successfully used Online
LEAD in a variety of locations. Firearms trafficking task forces
in cities such as New York, Memphis, Atlanta, Baltimore, and Washington,
D.C. have been able to link the purchaser of a crime gun to crime
guns recovered in other locations thus identifying potential illegal
firearms traffickers. Online LEAD is available to all State and
local law enforcement agencies at ATF field offices throughout the
country.
