IBC 4th Annual Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing & Development Summit
December 08 - 09, 2008
Durham, NC
Tunnell Principal Chris S. Driscoll will offer a presentation on "Reducing Costs While Improving Compliance" at the 4th Annual IBC BMD Summit on December 8 in Durham, NC. When biotech and pharma companies need to reduce costs they usually deploy a program called "operational excellence" or "continuous improvement" instead of working the problem directly. His presentation will demonstrate how to hit cost reduction targets and improve compliance without distracting the organization with wasteful program deployment.
Siddharth J. Advant, Ph.D., Principal and Head of Tunnell's West Coast Office, will moderate a panel on "The Impact of Operational Excellence on the Design of Platform Processes and Facilities" on December 9 at 2:30 pm. The pressure to reduce cost during development and commercialization of biologics has put an increased emphasis on developing platform processes as well as the design of appropriate facilities. This interactive session, which will feature experts from five prominent biotechnology companies, will look at the interaction between these two components and the opportunities to simultaneously build operational excellence into the design of processes and facilities. As chairperson for Day Two of the conference's Operational Excellence track, Dr. Advant will also deliver opening remarks at 8:45 am on December 9.
